Liber Falxifer II

Liber Falxifer II
The Book of Anamlaqayin
N.A-A.218

The Second Book of Master Falxifer will delve further into the Necrosophic mysteries of Qayin, but will also cast a black light on some crucial aspects previously hinted at and at the same time veiled, in the first book of the Left-Handed Reaper. One of these all-important aspects concerns the identity of and the gnosis granted by the Hidden Mother of Our Bloodline, the Bride of Qayin.

The work will once again present an extensive set of both worded and wordless manifestations of Sorcerous Gnosis and provide access to previously hidden keys to both low and high forms of Necrosophic Nigromancy, Necromancy, Ancestral Veneration, Herbal Demonology and give new detailed instruction about how the powers of the insignias, talismans and fetishes of the Lord of the Harvest can be further employed in order to achieve both temporal and spiritual power, victory and transcendence, all by walking in the fiery and blessed footsteps of the First Ones who traversed the Paths of Nod.

Some of the topics presented within the Second Book of Our Master are: esoteric discourses revealing the mythic foundation of our Qayinitic Gnosticism, the Hidden Bride of Qayin, Her secret formulas of Calling and Names of Power, Her sigils of both high and low sorcery, the unified and transcendent aspect of the Twin-Flame of Sataninsam, the Dark Dead and their hidden and most fearful aspects, the cleansing, protective and empowering baths, the herbal formulas and activations of the 7 Key Sigils of Death, the Mysteries of the Black In Green, exploring the powers of the First Tiller and the workings of the Esoteric Sigil of the Green Skull, the rites of protection and concealment, instructions concerning the creation and employing of the Qayinitic Bone Talismans (i.e. Payes), specific fetishes of some of the most important aspects of the Master, like for example the Fetish of the Lord of the Mound and the Skull of the First Harvester, the role of the First Dead within the Cult and His Sigils of Calling, talismanic work against the law, the ensouling Tinctures of Qayin and His Rose-Crowned Bride, the secret Kelim of Baaltzelmoth, the Grand Kliffotic Sigil of the King of the Ravens of Death, further teachings concerning the Mighty Dead and the workings of the Altar of the Dead, prayers, invocations and talismanic forms used for the channelling of the powers of both the soul and the spirit of Qayin and much more.

Andrew D. Chumbley

Xoanon Publishing, 2009. Limited Edition of 333 copies. Quarter bound in leather with slipcase; A MINT COPY. Landscape 16mo. Completed in early 2004, the Sermon formed a portion of the 'Monadic Transmission' series of texts originally issued in hand-written, hand-illustrated editions of one copy only.

This unique grimoire concerns the sorcerous precept of Unfettered Desire, as expounded in parable form by the twin sexual hypostases of the Sabbatic Agapae. The book gives voice to a connubial dialectic patterned upon 26 aphoristic formulae or 'Sermons' and their accompanying calligraphic sigils. As a whole, the book exposits diverse formulae of magical adoration, invoking the eternal mystae of The Beloved. Lux Haeresis

Lux Haeresis
Daniel A. Schulke

Xoanon publishing, 2011. Bound in iridescent grey cloth with black lettering to spine and Mask of Gorgon to upper board, burgundy endpapers, lexicon. Illustrated in b&w by Daniel Schulke. Edition limited to 729 hand-numbered copies. Mint condition.

The principal concern of the work is the Arcana of the Witch's Eye and its mutual interaction with Sentient Luminosity. Treating the twin mysteria of Ocular Malediction (the so-called Evil Eye), and Seership or 'The Sight', the book proceeds beyond this duality unto the realm of Telaesthesis --the unique perceptual modalities of the Witches' Sabbath, grand abberator of the sensorial field. Explored in detail is the magical relation between Hand and Eye, the Body of Void, and the vivification of the Magical Image. As a magico-poetic cartography of the illuminant metaphysic present in the folkloric strata of traditional witchcraft, The Light Heretical serves as both homage and grimoire to its Luciferan arcana. 150 eurosAdd Item

The Psalter of Cain

The Psalter of Cain
Various Authors / Cultus Sabbati

The Psalter of Cain consists of a series of devotional magical works to Cain, holy ancestor of sorcerers. Its magical foci are dedicated specifically to the Ancestral Manes of the Sabbatic Current, the shade-mothers and fathers of the Companie of the Wise. Historically, the figure of Biblical Cain is known from the context of Italian witchcraft and Romany magic, as well as esoteric orders of freemasonry and the Society of the Horseman's Word. However, it is from the British witchcraft-lineages of the CULTUS SABBATI that Cain has come to modern occult prominence as the especial patron of the Witch's Art, the embodiment of Exile and Opposition explicit within the Elder Craft. In its rarefied embodiment of Crooked Path Sorcery & the ever-deviating path of Bane and Blessing, the power of Cain arises from his mythic forms of Transgressor-against-God, First Murderer, Wandering Exile, and First Tamer of the Horse, among others. These Cainite arcana received their highest ritual and literary expression in Andrew D. Chumbley's Dragon-Book of Essex. The Psalter of Cain is the first public work of joint authorship of the magical order CULTUS SABBATI. As a work of devotional rite, charm, and incantation, the book manifests the transcendant Sabbatic vision of Cainite Gnosis: the radiance which illumines the Nocturnal Eden, the light of vision-anointed eyes. The book features new contributions from the following authors: ANDREW D. CHUMBLEY; ROBERT FITZGERALD; FRATER A.B.A.; SOROR T.A.; FRATER A.Z.; DANIEL A. SCHULKE; SOROR I.S.; SOROR S.I.; FRATER A.A.; & FRATER R. I. Its progression of rite and charm is incepted by a Proem by Andrew D. Chumbley, and a Consummatum by Daniel A. Schulke. The book is produced to the highest Xoanon standard, with a design wholly apposite the Cainite Arcanum. Octavo, original crimson linen titled in gilt on spine & front panel.

Hand-printed by letterpress in black & red, frontispiece in black & gold, illustrated throughout in black & red. 110 pages. 701 hand-numbered copies printed. Temporarily out of stock

Andrew D. Chumbley

Expanding upon themes developed in Opuscula Volume I, the book also treats Crooked Path Sorcery, a transcendental ethos of traditional witchcraft having parallels in such traditions as Petro Voudon. Also new in this volume is an Author's Preface, as well as Robert Fitzgerald's rare 1996 interview with Chumbley in Esoterra. The 1999 article 'Gnosis For the Flesh Eternal' appears here for the first time, being a much-expanded version of 'Wisdom For the New Flesh' which first appeared in Starfire. The Occult Reliquary

The Occult Reliquary
Images and Artefacts of the Richel-Edlermans Collection
With an Introduction by Graham King

Situated at the crossroads of erotic magic, ceremonial angelic conjuration, and witchcraft, the images comprise, in part, a pictorial cipher of the rituals of Ars Amatoria, a European magical order using sex magic, and the lesser-known M.M., based in the Hague and Leiden. Also referenced among the collection are materials relating to A.A. of Aliester Crowley. The transfixing procession of images, charms, magical seals, and ritual objects in the Collection is the work of multiple artists, and displays a high degree of magical insight and creativity. It will be of interest to students of witchcraft, Freemasonry, the Goetia, sex magic, and early twentieth century occultism. The Reliquary presents for the first time a selection of these magical images, many reproduced at full scale, and bound with the highest quality materials. The book is 224 pages, with over 275 illustrations, 130 of which are in full colour. Standard Edition in cloth, limited to 700 copies. Temporarily out of stock

Mysticism, Initiation and Dream

Mysticism, Initiation and Dream
Andrew Chumbley

Written as an undergraduate at SOAS University of London in 2001, 'Mysticism: Initiation and Dream' would foreshadow the concerns of Andrew Chumbley's later doctoral research on the transcendental nature of the magical dream. In the course of the exposition, the concepts of the Initiatic Dream are traced to furthest antiquity, epitomized by the participatory nature of the Mystic within the Oneiric Realm. The axiomata of Dream Reification and Rarefaction are introduced as defining processes of this twilight pilgrimage, both of a gnostic and illuminative character. At the time of his matriculation, Chumbley had already established a solid reputation as an occult author and practitioner of widely varying spiritual disciplines. His highly-acclaimed books Azoëtia (1992) and Qutub (1995) arose not only from the solid foundation of magical practice and theory, but also from a highly complex mystical dream-praxis, perfected for many years. Though forming the core of his coursework, 'Mysticism' - together with the bulk of his SOAS essays - were written in a transcendent dialogist style altogether in concord with the body of his occult work. Drawing upon sources as diverse as the dream-vision of the Christian saints, Sufic oneiric texts, and Bonpo termas, Chumbley here presents an arcane cartography of the dream as the eternal vessel for the perichoresis of matter and spirit. First Edition, Octavo, hardcover with dust jacket. 56 pp. Limited edition of 1000 copies. 50 eurosAdd Item

Children of Cain

Children of Cain
Michael Howard

The mid-twentieth century witnessed the birth of popular occultism in the West, including an interest in witchcraft. At the forefront of popular witchcraft was Wicca, a recension of ceremonial magic and nature worship advanced by Gerald Gardner and Alex Sanders, now widely regarded as a religion. However, lesser-known streams of the witch-current thrived the shadows, having older historical roots, and linked to an ancient body of practice - witch-bottles, knotted cord spells, curses, exorcisms, sexual magic, and charms ranging from the conjuration of angels to protection of livestock and hearth. This was Traditional Witchcraft, whose origin in part lies with the sorcery of the cunning-folk of Britain and Colonial America. Though largely avoiding the popular occult limelight, from 1970 onward, elements of Traditional Witchcraft experienced a partial emergence into the public through such publications as Paul Huson's Mastering Witchcraft, the writings of Robert Cochrane and Evan John Jones, and Andrew Chumbley's Azoetia: A Grimoire of the Sabbatic Craft. Based on over forty years of research and private collaboration with practitioners, Michael Howard's Children of Cain is the definitive history of Traditional Witchcraft and its key operatives in Britain and the United States. Supplemented with diverse photographs and illustrations, many appearing for the first time, the book artfully encompasses the unique legacy of Traditional Witchcraft - those who bear the Mark of the Exile as a sign of hidden power: the Children of Cain. West Country Witches

West Country Witches
Michael Howard

In 1930 a correspondent writing to the Western Morning Post newspaper confidently asserted 'We live in an age when those old twilight beliefs are disappearing'. The beliefs in question were various aspects of popular superstition and the supernatural once widely accepted by people in the West Country. In response to this assertion, a correspondent called Padely Silvanus said he lived on the border of Dartmoor and could introduce the previous writer to a haunted bridge that nobody would cross at night. He could also take him to a dell where faeries were still seen to dance, a place on the moor where an earthbound spirit dwelt and caused terrible accidents, introduce them to a 'well-known and universally respected' lady who had seen a pixy and heard the Wish Hounds in full cry, and take them to visit a witch in her cottage, but at the risk of them being 'overlooked' (ill-wished or bewitched). Silvanus' letter encompassed the surviving belief in ghosts, faeries and witches that for centuries has given the West Country its reputation as a place where the paranormal is an everyday event. This second volume of the Witchcraft in the British Isles series examines the Craft sorcery and folklore of Devon, Cornwall, Somerset, Wiltshire and Dorset. Rich in folklore and folk traditions, the West Country has always had an aura of mystery and magic, and this is reflected in its past and the various races and their spiritual beliefs who have occupied it down the centuries. Welsh Witches and Wizards

Welsh Witches and Wizards
Michael Howard

The widespread belief in witches and wizards in Wales reflects a land steeped in legend and myth since ancient times. The witch’s power to harm people, livestock, and crops was greatly feared; for this reason country people consulted with so-called ‘cunning men’ and ‘wise women’ who had the power to negate their spells with counter-magic. Cunning-folk practitioners were also consulted for love spells, to find lost property or missing persons, exorcise ghosts and banish evil spirits. The figures of both witch and wizard form part of a broader folk-magic continuity in Wales. This popular belief in witchcraft bears little relation to modern neo-pagan Wicca, and there is little evidence of its linkage to a nature religion based on a pre-Christian fertility cult. This book describes the historically-attested Welsh practitioners of folk magic and witchcraft –the Dark Sisters and the Toadmen, the Druids and Wizards, the Cunning Men and Faery Doctors – and the charms and spells they used. Also examined are surviving pagan beliefs associated with holy wells and the cult of the sacred head, and the mysterious and sometimes sinister ‘creatures of the night’ such as faeries, lake monsters, dragons and Black Dogs. The Arcane Veil

The Arcane Veil
-Ten Discourses on The Craft and The History of Magic
Shani Oates

Analogue of Craft historiography, brought up to date through the author's own experiential praxis. A discursive investigation of magical beliefs and practises in England since 600CE to the post-modern fall-out of the 21st century, analysing in particular its influences and survival strategies. Emphasis is placed on Christian, Heathen, and Hermetic Praxis, with provocative, critical study of the concepts of Lucifer, Witch-Blood, Sin-Eating and their influences on modern Traditional Craft praxes. "A driving thirst for knowledge is the forerunner of wisdom. Knowledge is a state that all organic life possesses, wisdom is the reward of the spirit, gained in the search for knowledge. Truth is variable - what is true now, will not be true tomorrow, since the temporal truths are dependent upon ethics and social mores - therefore wisdom is possibly eternal Truth, untouched by man's condition. So we must come to the heart of the people, a belief that is based upon Eternity, and not upon social needs or pressures - the 'witch' belief then is concerned with wisdom, our true name, then the wise people and wisdom is our aim." - Robert Cochrane 1931-1966. Encyclopedia of Magical Herbs

Encyclopedia of Magical Herbs
Scott Cunningham

In this edition of the book (it's expanded and revised on the 15th anniversary of original publication) you will find the magical properties and folklore of over 400 herbs! You'll also find lists of herbs based on their magical powers, their genders, their planetary rulers, and more. Perhaps the most important list is the folk name cross-reference. With that information, when a recipe calls for "bramble, " you'll know it needs blackberry. Or if the magic calls for "enebro," you'll know you that is juniper. The main part of this book is the listings of the herbs. Each one includes names, associations, and magical attributions. Violets can be used for protection, luck, love, and more. Primrose is for protection and love. Garlic is for protection, healing, exorcism, lust, and prevention of theft. This book is considered a classic. It is probably consulted more than any other book on this subject. If you want to learn the secrets of magical herbs, this book is a must. Softcover, 336 pages. 25 eurosAdd Item

Witcha - A Book of Cunning

Witcha - A Book of Cunning
Nathaniel J. Harris

Witcha presents many secrets of English witchcraft in plain language, giving details of widdershins and deosil circle casting, spell-craft, divination, spiritism, sabbats and esbats, sacrifice, entheogens, philosophy, history, and more. The focus is primarily upon those aspects commonly called ‘operative witchcraft’ of ‘results’ and ‘getting things done’, rather than the supposedly more ‘spiritual’ aspects that have been the subject of so many books of late. These are illustrated with photographs taken by author´s step-father, Adrian Bryn-Evans, detailing, with their kind permission and support, exhibits from the Museum of Witchcraft, Boscastle, North Cornwall. The disappointment of those seeking a ‘tradition’ to fall back on when they doubt their own judgement, the author has attempted instead to portray an attitude of spiritual freedom central to the Craft. Some might even call it the witchcraft of the left hand path. Softcover, 310 pages. SOLD

The Robert Cochrane Letters

The Robert Cochrane Letters
An Insight Into Modern Traditional Witchcraft
Robert Cochrane, with Evan John Jones

Robert Cochrane is still one of the most controversial figures in contemporary witchcraft nearly 40 years after his death. This books details his letters dealing with magical/Craft topics written to Joe Wilson, founder of the 1734 Tradition in the USA, Norman Gills, a traditional witch and cunning man of the old type with Romany ancestry and William Gray, well known in the 1960s as a writer on the Cabbala and a ceremonial magician. Although copies of some of these letters have been passed around and broadcast on the Internet over the years, they have become jumbled and as a result all kinds of misinformation has arisen about their origin and authorship. In 2001 Cochrane's surviving widow legally handed over the copyright of all his correspondence, writings, artwork and articles to Evan John Jones who was a member of Cochrane's coven in the 1960s and is the past magister of the Clan of Tubal Cain. The decision was taken to publish these letters, except for a few of a very personal nature, together with notes to explain their contents and place them in their historical context - this book is the result. Softcover book,186 pages. SOLD

The Roebuck in the Thicket

The Roebuck in the Thicket
An Anthology of the Robert Cochrane Witchcraft Tradition
Evan John Jones & Robert Cochrane, editor Mike Howard

Robert Cochrane was one of the most fascinating and enigmatic figures in the history of the modern witchcraft revival. He claimed a family witchcraft tradition going back to the 17th century and also claimed that he had been taught the Craft by a family member. He was in contact with leading occult figures in the sixties such as Bill Gray and claimed links with a number of hereditary groups in the UK. Describing himself, Cochrane wrote "I come from the country of the oak, ash and thorn...I describe myself as a Pellar (Cornish term for rural healers) ...I am a member of the people of Goda - of the Clan of Tubal Cain" This book contains information about Robert Cochrane, his coven - The Clan of Tubal Cain, their ritual, teachings and beliefs and his workings written by himself to Evan John Jones, with additional writings by Evan John Jones and editing by Michael Howard. The articles in this book form a fascinating overview of a unique form of traditional witchcraft. Softcover, 182 pages. SOLD

Walking the Tides

Walking the Tides
Seasonal Rhythms and Traditional Lore in Natural Craft
Nigel G Pearson

Behind the seasonal calendar celebrated by most modern pagans is an ebb and flow of natural energies that is seldom mentioned and whose meaning is very little understood. Those that take their practice from a direct experience of the Land and its natural rhythms have always understood and worked with these energies, which gives them a direct connection to the reality behind the modern festivals. This book aims to give the reader an overview of the great rhythmic tides and flows of energy that animate the Land throughout the year and the natural happenings that occur along the way, thereby giving their practice a validity that it may currently lack. "Walking the Tides" describes holy days, celebrations, Saints’ days, animals, birds, herbs, trees, weather and star-lore that are featured in the natural calendar of the British Isles and the uses to which many of these things are put in traditional practice. Divided into four sections describing the Winter, Spring, Summer and Autumn Tides (and monthly within these), the author gives the reader a feeling of connection to what is actually going on around them in the natural world, at any given point in the year. Many books describe the so-called "Wheel of the Year", without giving any context, reason or validation for the practices described; "Walking the Tides" takes the reader on an intimate journey into the heart of the Land and shows what actually occurs, rather than what is supposed to, enabling the reader to understand the rhythms and tides of the Land around them and to formulate their own celebrations and observances of these tides and their significant points, based on a clear understanding of the world around them. Much of the information given is taken from Traditional Craft practice, but also from old British folklore, the lore of the Farm, the author’s own experience and even Church tradition, blended into a whole to give the reader a greater and deeper appreciation and understanding of the seasonal flow throughout the natural year and their place in it. Softcover, 338 pages. SOLD

The Book of Fallen Angels

The Book of Fallen Angels
Michael Howard

In some way this book is a sequal to The Pillars of Tubal Cain by Nigel Jackson and Michael Howard, the book challenges the concept that the fallen angels fell from grace and became demons, with their leader Azazel or Shemyaza, identified with the rebel angel Lucifer, becoming, according to the Christian texts, the Prince of Darkness and supreme principal of evil. Topics covered include what angels are and what they represent; their ancient origins; the major differences between Lucifer/Lumiel and Satan and how the early church demonised Lumiel and the pagan deities of the Middle East; the fallen angels and their stellar lore; the belief that the fallen angels are the same as the faeries and djinns of European and Arabian folklore; the universal myth of the great flood; the Nephelim or Anakim; the female consort of Lucifer, frequently associated in mythology with the dark moon goddesses and sorcery - Lilith, Hecate, Ishtar, Astarte, Asherah, Diana, the Shekinah and Sophia; the mystical symbolism of the rose in occult tradition; the process of cosmic redemption manifesting as a series of incarnations in human form; heretical cults and secret societies through history and in modern times claiming to follow Luciferian beliefs including the Sethians, the Essenes, Knights Templars, the Yezedi, the Ophites, the Mandean, the Order of the Morning Star and the Our Lady of Endor Coven amongst others; Arabic influences on the medieval witch cult; Renaissance angelic magic; the teaching angels or archangels who feature prominently in angelic magick - Michael, Raphael, Gabriel and Two appendices are included with invocations to the Lord Lumiel. Her second phase reveals her in the image which is still best known today: here she was the terrifying Goiddess of ghosts, magic and the moon. Turba Philosophorum

Turba Philosophorum
Translated by Arthur Edward Waite

Known unto the Wise as the Crowd of Philosophers, this twelfth century treatise records the meeting of the "Hermetic Association for the Advancement of Alchemy" and gives voice to the alchemical wisdom of several centuries. From Pythagoras to the Thrice-Greatest Hermes, the Adepts converse on the keys of the Royal Art and the nature of the Magnum Opus in their pursuit of the Philosopher's Stone. Arthur Edward Waite's translation of The Turba Philosophorum remains the most complete to date due to the fact that he examined the many variant Latin manuscripts. There were two versions of the Turba; a short version and a long version, and in cases where textual differences occurred, Waite was sure to note them. This new edition has retained those important words of wisdom. Full burgundy cloth with gilt spine title and device on front board in a printed dust jacket. Octavo. Limited edition of 700 copies. 168 pages. 35 eurosAdd Item

Cantus Circaeus - Incantations of Circe

Cantus Circaeus - Incantations of Circe
Giardano Bruno

The first English translation of Giordano Bruno's Cantus Circaeus. In the beginning of his Cantus Circaeus, Bruno portrays the doctrine of correspondence as used with the seven planetary invocations, which are themselves tokens of praxis in the Hermetic tradition. The incantatory litanies include the names, attributes, plants, stones, animals and other qualities associated with the astral bodies, and are thus memory palaces of planetary arcana. Through dialogue, Circe and her assistant Moeris, explicate the use of images in the imagination in order to facilitate use of the Art of Memory which constitutes the latter half of the text. Theatrum Chemicum Britannicum

Theatrum Chemicum Britannicum
Elias Ashmole

One of the best known seventeenth century alchemical works, Theatrum Chemicum Britannicum is a collection of English language metaphysical verse, much of which is composed to convey the essence of the alchemical arts by allegory. It's compiler, Elias Ashmole (1617 - 1692), the great English antiquary, statesman, astrologer and student of alchemy in English, preserved in its pages many precious works that were then only known in manuscript, including works attributed to William Backhouse, Geoffrey Chaucer, John Dee, Edward Kelly, Thomas Norton, et al. Gardner describes the book as: "A most important collection of Alchemical tracts, including Thos. Norton's Ordinall of Alchemy, G. Ripley's Compound of Alchemie, Dr. John Dee's Testament, etc., etc., it is embellished with several very finely engraved plates and cuts of a mystical character, engraved by Vaughan, also a table at page 118 which is frequently missing, it states that this figure conteynes all the secrets of the treatise both great and small. In the preface he complains of the scant honour the Fratres of the R.C. receive at the hands of their countrymen, instancing the cures done to the Earl of Norfolk of leprosie, and Queen Elizabeth twice of the small pox by two of the Fratres. He then goes on to compare the warm reception they receive at the hands of Foreigners, instancing Maierus, Combachius, Faber, etc. This is one of the most important works we possess in the English language on this subject. Ashmole obtained his Hermetic knowledge of the Philosopher's Stone from Mr. William Backhouse of Swallowfield, Berks. ..." Ouroboros Press, 2012. Hardbound book, 524 pages. Fine maroon cloth with gilt lettering on spine, textured endpapers, index. Rubricated title page in red and black ink. Magic Circles in the Grimoire tradition

Magic Circles in the Grimoire tradition
William Kiesel

Magic Circles have been depicted in popular expressions of magic and witchcraft as well as detailed with full rubrics in traditional manuals of magic such as the Clavicula Solomonis or Liber Juratus. Using narrative, visual and textual material available from European grimoires and manuscripts, the author discusses the various forms and functions of this important piece of apparatus employed by magicians in the Western Esoteric Tradition, including their role in providing authority and protection to the operator, as well as examples of their use in divination and treasure finding. Additionally, contemporary examples of the magic circle at work in modern esoteric praxis are provided and discussed in light of the traditional approaches they exhibit. This monograph serves to explicate this important tool of ceremonial magic and is valuable to practitioners of the art magical with its technical data, while also providing context in historical settings for the merely curious reader of occult subjects. Illustrated throughout. Octavo, hardcover with dust jacket. 96 pages. Temporarily out of stock

The Devil´s Rainments

The Devil´s Rainments
Martin Duffy

In occult literature, the Vestments of the Art Magical are poorly understood, principally because few save the body of initiates behold them. The robe, mask, hood, mantle, garter, and veil, constituting the exterior arrayments of the witch, trace their pedigree to a number of magical sources, each constituting a mystery of form and function. These mystical underpinnings often possess a deeper arcanum, being both emblematic of specified witch-powers and serving a hidden ritual purpose. In The Devil’s Raiments, Martin Duffy examines the relationship of the sorcerer to that which clothes him, with particular emphasis on the witch-cult. Also explored is the modern perception of the witch as the Naked Enchantress, as well as the some of the older historical rationales for the portrayal of nudity in witchcraft. The text is illustrated with five original drawings by Sussex artist Steve Damerell. Octavo, hardcover with dust jacket. 96 pages. 50 eurosAdd Item

Curse Tablets and Binding Spells from the Ancient World

Curse Tablets and Binding Spells from the Ancient World
John Gager

In the ancient Greco-Roman world, it was common practice to curse or bind an enemy or rival by writing an incantation on a tablet and dedicating it to a god or spirit. These curses or binding spells, commonly called defixiones were intended to bring other people under the power and control of those who commissioned them. Extending into every aspect of ancient life- athletic and theatrical competitions, judicial proceedings, love affairs, business rivalries, and the recovery of stolen property- they shed light on a new dimension of classical study previously inaccessible. The Book of Paramazda is at once a received book, an enciphered magical system and an apocalyptic vision of the Aeons.
